Pomeranians are loving and loyal companions who make great watch dogs and are one of the most intelligent of the small breeds. As with any pet, proper training is essential or you will soon find that your Pom is running the show!

These dogs can be great watch dogs and their bark is strong, but you need to train them to bark a couple of times when they hear someone out side and then stop. My dog will keep on yapping until I go over and pick her up or give a treat. I still haven't figured out how to stop her from doing that! You also need to be firm with them and let them know that they can't always get what they want just by barking - believe me they can become little tyrants if they think they can get a treat or a spot on your lap every time they bark!
