Feeding Your Pomeranian The Right Dog Foods

Just like you, your Pomeranian needs the right combination of foods to live a long and healthy life. In addition, your Pom needs to have his foods regulated otherwise he’ll eat as much as he can in turn into a big blob! Not only is an overweight Pom not that cute to look at, it is also bad for his health.

In addition to the right kinds of foods, you need to make sure your Pomeranian gets sufficient vitamins and minerals. Sometimes, dog food is not enough. If you do buy good quality foods you can be sure that your Pom is probably getting most of what he needs but you might want to talk to your vet and find out what kinds of supplements might be helpful for your Pomeranian’s health.

Here are some tips on the type of diet that is ideal for your dog:

1. Dogs are carnivores but meat should not be the only food in your Pomeranians diet. For thousands of years, dogs have been a companion to man and have lived off the scraps of men supper So some grains and fruits and vegetables are important in your Poms diet. Dogs need foods with fiber to help them digest properly and carbohydrates will give them some of the energy they need.

2. Vitamins and minerals are important to your Pomeranian and necessary to maintain ashiny coat and healthy teeth and gums. If your Pom isn’t getting enough vitamins or minerals you may find that his coat is lackluster and his skin is dry. A high-quality dog food will probably contain some vitamins but you might also consider a supplement to keep your pup in tip top shape.

3. Dogs actually need green leafy vegetables. I don’t know if your Pomeranian will like them, although mine did and she ate all kinds of fruit’s and vegetables much to our surprise. Leafy greens will provide them with the proper nutrients that they need for survival. And while you’re at it, make sure to eat enough of those yourself for your own good health.

4. Dog treats are fine for your Pomeranian as long as they are healthy treats and not junk food like candy and chips. Just like humans, this food is not good for them and in fact is made even worse by the fact that your Pom is very tiny so even a little bit of junk food has bad results. Chocolate in particular can be lethal for dogs so avoid feeding your Pomeranian any chocolate at all!
